Welcome to XXVI. IGC 2027 in Leipzig, Germany!
100 years of grassland research – ways to the future
The Scientific and Organizing Committee of the XXVI International Grassland Congress cordially invites you to participate in the International Grassland Congress “100 years of grassland research – ways to the future” June 13-18, 2027 at “Kongresshalle am Zoo” Leipzig, Germany.
The 2027 International Grassland Congress (IGC), hosted by the Julius Kühn Institute, the Thünen Institute, and the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF), will showcase diverse aspects of natural and semi-natural grasslands as well as improved grasslands managed at varying intensities, including the cultivation and use of forage crops. Topics will include the sustainable development of on-farm food production, along with the interactions of grassland management with ecosystem functioning, climate change, biodiversity, and society as a whole.
The IGC was first held in 1927 in Leipzig, Germany. Since then, the congress has provided scientists, students, and representatives from industry, extension services, and farming with the opportunity to exchange the latest research findings and experiences on grasslands every three to five years at different locations around the world.
The 50th anniversary in 1977 brought the IGC back to Leipzig. In 2027, the congress will return once more to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Building on this long history, the motto of IGC 2027 will be: “100 years of grassland research – ways to the future.
